Different plastics possess significantly distinct characteristics; consequently, the selection of corresponding blade materials requires precise matching:

General-Purpose Plastics (PE, PP, PS): High-speed steel (e.g., 9CrSi, SKD-11) is the preferred choice. With moderate hardness (HRC 55–58), good wear resistance, and controllable costs, it can easily handle these soft or brittle standard plastics, effectively preventing issues such as material sticking to the blades or stringing.

Engineering Plastics (PC, PA, POM): Tool steel (e.g., DC53, H13) is recommended. Corrosive/Viscous Plastics (containing flame retardants or TPU): Blades with specialized surface coatings are recommended. These coatings simultaneously reduce the tendency of viscous plastics to adhere to and wrap around the blades, while also protecting the blades from degradation caused by corrosive gases, thereby ensuring shredding stability.
