How to Install a Plastic Shredder Blade

A plastic shredder is a processing device used for recycling and shredding waste plastics. To maintain high efficiency and stable material handling, the blades must be frequently sharpened or replaced. This process involves blade installation. To ensure efficient operation, Fukai provides a brief guide to plastic shredder installation steps below.

  1. Before installing the plastic shredder blades, carefully match the material to the material being shredded and select the appropriate blade material. After selecting a blade of the appropriate material, inspect the blade edge to ensure it is sharp and free of nicks before beginning installation.
  2. During installation, select the appropriate wrench for the blade fastening bolts and categorize the movable and fixed blades to avoid misalignment. If you are using universal shredder blades, categorizing them is not necessary. After selecting the appropriate tools, open the chassis and secure the rotor to prevent accidents caused by blade rotation during installation.
  3. Begin installation. First, secure and adjust the fixed blade to the proper position. Using the fixed blade as a reference, install the movable blades one by one according to the number of blades in the blade holder. Adjust the gap between the movable blades and the previously installed fixed blades and tighten the bolts one by one. After installing the movable blades, install the remaining fixed blades according to the number of fixed blade rows and adjust the position of the fixed blades again using the fixed blades as a reference to maintain the proper shear gap.
  4. After all blades are installed, re-tighten the blade bolts. Based on the size of the machine and the thickness of the bolts, select the appropriate force rod and adjust the torque to the appropriate level. Tighten each blade bolt one by one. After tightening, manually rotate the blade holder to check the adjusted gap, primarily checking for blade clearance, blade contact, and screw tightness. Once all errors are confirmed, close the chassis, and the plastic shredder blade installation is complete.

Plastic shredders from different manufacturers typically vary significantly in design, structure, and performance. This not only affects the overall performance of the equipment but also the installation method of the screen. Depending on the installation method, screens are primarily categorized as internally mounted or externally mounted. Built-in plastic shredders require precise positioning and securely fixed screens during blade installation to avoid compromising shredding efficiency and machine stability. Externally mounted equipment, on the other hand, does not require any other modifications, making blade installation and tightening easier.

Furthermore, blade fastening and installation methods vary between plastic shredders, requiring analysis and adjustment based on the specific model. Some plastic shredders may use screws to secure the blades, while others may employ other, more stable fastening methods. During installation, users should carefully adjust the blade fastening and installation method based on the specific requirements of the equipment to ensure optimal shredding efficiency and machine stability.
